   •Pure Bromine is extremely dangerous. As a gas, it burns the eyes, throats and lungs; As a liquid, it can burn bare skin. If swallowed, it can damage the brain and nerves.

 

   •Bromine is the only liquid form of a non-metal element. It is extracted by treating seawater or natural brines with chlorine. Its primary producers are USA, Israel and China.
 
   •Bromine has been used for thousands of years. Romans and Phoenicians used bromine from sea water to dye their robes. The process was so expensive that only royals could afford this purple dye. Hence, “royal purple”.

   •Historically, some bromine containing-compounds were used in sedative, although these are not used in the USA anymore.
